I have been in the veterinary field for 4 years.
I started working as a receptionist in a mixed animal practice. We saw many animals, from dogs and cats to snakes and raptors. After a year as a receptionist, I began working at a 24 hour small animal emergency practice as a technician. I also have a degree in cullinary arts, but working with animals is my choice of career. I have a total of 6 dogs: Chezney (lab/rottie mix), Chewbakka (shih tzu mix), Cali (wire hair terrier), Beamer (Jack Russell mix), Achilles (American Staffordshire), and Marley (yorkie). I also have a black caped conure, Ritchie, that can talk and say his own name!

I started working in the veterinary field 5 years ago as an assistant. My first job
was at a mixed animal practice where we saw everything from dogs and cats to bald eagles. I am currently in school at Brown Mackie Louisville in order to receive my AVMA accredidation and be a licensed veterinary technician. I will be taking the VTNE in June of 2010. I am a big fan of cats. I have 3 cats (Peaches, Floyd, and Kelly Kapowski) and a foster right now, as well as a green iguana. No dogs right now, but that should be changing soon.

Born in Texas, raised in Thailand, I had a very diverse childhood that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Growing up between the United States and the other side of the world led me to love traveling and visiting new places. Though I have been living back in the United States since I was 12, I plan on returning to Thailand for a long overdue visit one of these days.
In addition to my love of travel, I also love to read and draw. I’ve been carrying a sketchbook around with me since I was 5. My love and passion for art developed alongside my skills as an artist, and I’ve done everything from murals to face painting. Though it has often been said I should have turned my skills as an artist into a career, I could not tear myself away from my love of animals.
Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted a job working with animals. My house was always a zoo growing up. I’ve kept everything from tadpoles to parakeets. I’ve been keeping snakes since I was 13, and I started breeding them about 5 years ago. I’ve had as many as 50 at one time. I’m also a member of the Kentucky Herpetological Society, and I’ve been an active participant in reptile rescue and rehab for the past 2 years. In addition to my collection of reptiles, I am currently owned by two border collies, Idolon and Rune, a pugaranian named Monkey, and a white belliedcaique named Catbait. My home is always busy, but I would not have it any other way.
