Stony Brook Animal Hospital is located in Louisville, KY. We are a full-service animal hospital providing veterinary care to dogs, cats, and exotic animals. Veterinary Assistant
Position Skills:
• Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery
and minor procedures, surgical assisting, hospital disinfecting, and pro-actively set up for any
procedures or diagnostic tests
• Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
• Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient’s condition to DVM
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
• Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs,
anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations
• High quality client communication including patient updates, assist with scheduling, andquestions
Position Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED certificate
• Professionally and respectfully work with others as a team
• Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
• Must possess strong communication skills, have good judgment, and be able to manage stressful situations
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Pay commensurate with experience.

Veterinary Technician
Qualifications
- Skill and Experience – You are a professional with at least a year of experience in a veterinary practice setting and are a Licensed Veterinary Technician

- Resilience and Adaptability – You cope effectively with pressure and setbacks
Responsibilities:
• Assist veterinarian(s) in performing examinations and procedures, including venipuncture, IVC placement, nursing care, digital x-ray, filling prescriptions, administering vaccines and other duties.
• Handle and restrain animals safely during treatments and examinations.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively with pet owners.
• Intake patients, obtain patient history, administer medications, complete treatment orders.
• Provide support in surgical procedures and laboratory tests as needed.
• Ensure cleanliness, organization, and performance of the veterinary clinic and equipment.
Salary commensurate with experience.
